I hope you had a great long weekend and managed to fit in some fun activity.
How is your progress on your fitness journey going at present? Are you on a forward track or standing still or taking the “one step forward, two steps back” syndrome? For me, the past two months has been stressful and it has reminded me how easy it is to let go of good nutrition, exercise and regular sleep. These are essential to our ability to cope with the difficulties that life throws at us but usually the things that we ignore when life gets tough.
My message this week is regardless of where you are at life will keep throwing us curve balls which will get in the way of our fitness but we need to keep focusing on what is going to make the difference between moving forward or keep us wandering around in a fog…Good sleep, healthy nutrition and exercise. No matter how small the steps are, each one is a step forward.
PhysioMed Women’s Series 2011
Following on from above, there is only two weeks to the first of the PhysioMed Series for 2011 and it would be great to see you there on the start line. I know that many have struggled to maintain training and fitness, but there is no better way to kick start yourself than entering an event, being around so many other positive women and enjoying the moment. If you have remained active, the events are a great way to celebrate the onset of summer and meet up with old and new friends.
As you know, to add even more challenges after securing the Dudley Aquatic Centre in Rangiora for the triathlon, the building’s roof was damaged in the Aug snow and now is shut for maintenace. We decided that this year with all that we have been through over the past twelve months it was important for us to continue with the series by changing the first two events to duathlons and at the third event we will once again be a triathlon and duathlon.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the 6th Nov.

Session 1 will be at 2pm and Session 2 at 4pm.
email to practice@womenstri.co.nz with your preferred time.
Training Groups
Our training groups are such a great way to get to know others and have fun with the bonus of increasing your fitness and motivation.
Take the plunge and come along and join us. Don’t put it off because you think you are too unfit, not good enough, carrying some extra weight, think you won’t keep up etc. None of these excuses work with me!! In each of the training groups are split depending on experience and fitness, there is always a starting group and you work at your own level.
The hardest step in getting started is the one out the door. Make that one and you will be on your way on an exciting journey.
Details of each group is on on the website and are updated weekly so the information is always current. The following links will take you to the website: Swim group- Bike group - Run & Walk group

Give the blokes in your life a nudge, the Blokes Series is on, we are not holding it on the same day this year as we really want both the women and the blokes to have their own events. Send the men to www.blokestri.co.nz for details, dates and entry.
Final say of the week
Take the time for yourself, have fun and enjoy your training. My borrowed saying for the week is: “If you think you can, or think you can’t – you are right”
Have a fantastic weekend
